Providing a firm foundation for Hospice’s Big Splash

Hospice Isle of Man are delighted to announce that BPD Precast Concrete Products Ltd and Island Aggregates have once again partnered to manufacture and sponsor the concrete bases for each of the dolphin sculptures.

The companies have supported Wild in Art fund raising since its initial Cow Parade launch in 2003.  This year’s Hospice Big Splash is the largest mass participation art event to ever come to the Isle of Man and will see a trail of over 30 life size Dolphins take centre stage on a public art trail live around the Island for 12 weeks from May – September 2022.

Greg Wright, Managing Director of BPD, said “We are really pleased to be involved again, the work of Hospice touches so many lives.  This initiative is an excellent way for everyone across the Island to get involved in the fund raising activities.

Chief Executive of Hospice Isle of Man, Anne Mills said, “We appreciate the support of both BPD and Island Aggregates staff and management team who have sponsored, designed and manufactured our bases for The Big Splash.

After the immense challenges that us and the world have faced over the last 18 months, The Big Splash will help local people and tourists to appreciate the Island all over again, explore areas they may not have visited before, whilst at the same time supporting Hospice Isle of Man.”

More than 30 individually designed ‘life sized’ dolphin sculptures along with over 40 baby dolphins (Calves) will form a trail of discovery across the Island this year, encouraging residents and visitors alike to explore our environment from an exciting new perspective – whilst promoting our Biosphere, wellbeing and active lifestyles.

Each of these sculptures will be sponsored by local businesses who will benefit from an exciting range of PR and media opportunities prior to and throughout the trail itself. The Big Splash project has over 30 schools from across the Island working with our Education team on the Environment and will help to design one of the baby dolphins which form part of the Trail in 2022.
