A learning adventure with The Big Splash
We want to say a huge thank you to all the schools and groups that have picked up pens, crayons and paints (amongst other things!) to bring their small dolphin sculptures to life. The 43 sculptures are colourful, creative and fun and prove that when it comes to Manx artistic talent, there’s no shortage! We hope that everyone that has been involved, along with the families and friends of those that have developed these FIN-tastic dolphin designs, will have lots of fun following the trail and spotting each other’s dolphin sculptures.
Every school and group involved has pledged to raise £1000 for Hospice (IOM), with each receiving a blank dolphin calf sculpture to design and paint themselves. These calves will return to their schools and groups once the trail has ended. The Big Splash Educational Programme was designed to stimulate young minds to discover the wonder of the Isle of Man’s marine environments through the medium of art. Our dolphin calves celebrate the imagination, optimism and vibrancy of our island’s children and young people.
Our Education Programme has been developed in partnership with our Education Partner the Isle of Man Arts Council, and our Environmental Partner Manx Whale & Dolphin Watch. We would like to express how grateful we are to both of these local organisations, as without them we would not have been able to bring additional learning benefits to our fantastic education programme.
