Mini Mona’ is inspired by the children of Dhoon School. Dhoon School is located in Glen Mona on the east coast of the Isle of Man. Therefore, the name ‘Mini Mona’ seemed like the perfect choice for their dolphin. They collated many of the children’s ideas to produce ‘Mini Mona’ and every single child within the school has been involved in the painting of the sculpture. They wanted the design to represent the beautiful island, which is often referred to as ‘Mona Isle’, and chose to incorporate the colours in the Manx tartan within their work.
